At Hyundai motors welfare centre Chennai. Air cooled water chillers were placed above the building terrace.

Problem

The fans mounted on the air cooled water chillers and associated pump sets and motors and accessories of the unit producing high noise levels of about 71dB and it was disturbing the neighbour residents and were very much concerned about this problem

Solution

The company decided to reduce the noise affecting the neighbour without affecting the performance of the unit by increase the masonry wall of the structure and provided the partial acoustical barriers on two sides of the wall facing the residence.

Result

The noise levels were reduced to 5-7dB
